ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY MASTER FACILITIES PLAN
In 2015, after working with ABB on the DaSilva Memorial Track, St. John’s University asked ABB to prepare a Campus Athletic Facilities Assessment Report as a tool to guide improvements to their outdoor athletic facilities and to help prioritize its capital improvements through 2020. The ABB study covered various facilities on the 102-acre campus, in Queens, NY: DaSilva Memorial Track and Field (lacrosse/track & field) support facilities for athletes and spectators; Jack Kaiser Stadium (baseball); Belson Stadium (soccer); Red Storm Field (softball); and the Courts at St. John’s (tennis).
St. John’s competes in many major collegiate level sports, with highly-recognized teams and athletes at regional and national levels. The final report prioritized health and safety issues in its recommended list of proposed improvements and also suggested prioritizing facility compliance with NCAA requirements for hosting events. Following completion of this report, ABB led the design for the reconstruction of DaSilva Memorial Track and Field and Jack Kaiser Baseball Stadium.
