PAERDEGAT BASIN
Paerdegat Basin Water Quality Facility is the first new DEP facility to include extensive landscape installations, and ABB’s approach to this 11-acre site has become a model for new sustainable design strategies. The design improves the water quality in the Basin and Bay by preventing sewage outflows, and with nearly four acres of tree, shrub, wildflower, and groundcovers, it provides all the ecosystem benefits of high-habitat value plantings. A 32,000 SF green roof covers an underground retention tank. Tall berms with evergreen plantings screen the facility from the local community, and low-maintenance native vegetation contributes to wildlife habitation.
