NEW DORP HIGH SCHOOL TRACK + FIELD
The New Dorp High School Track & Field is a $10.5 million project that includes the reconstruction of the exterior athletic facilities and adjacent amenities, which provide the High School with a state-of-the-art multi-purpose synthetic turf field, perimeter running track with resilient surfacing, reconstructed grandstand, announcer’s press box, LED scoreboard, and new, energy-efficient sports field lighting.
The project, which was initially implemented to remediate sinkholes in the track and field, features bright, contrasting shades of green with the school’s logo prominently placed in the center of the field. The new multi-purpose field can be used for high school football, soccer, and men’s and women’s lacrosse. Grandstand improvements include replacement of deteriorated wood seat boards with powder-coated aluminum seats, press box, public address system, structural repairs, and installation of elements to bring the facility into compliance with ADA and Building Code requirements.
