MCCARREN PARK ATHLETIC FIELD

Location Pin

This 35-acre park is located in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, and the quarter-mile resilient running track and multi-purpose synthetic turf field is a mainstay for local runners and soccer enthusiasts. ABB originally converted the synthetic turf field from natural turf in 2006.

In 2019, a new state-of-the-art, 8-lane recreational running track and synthetic turf field were constructed to replace the well-loved track and field that were beyond their useful life. The resilient running track and infill synthetic turf field incorporate the latest advancements in sports field technologies. A new multi-generation fitness equipment area with modern strength training equipment and safety surfacing replaces outdated equipment, providing park users with a well-rounded workout experience. A new amenity area adjacent to the fields includes ADA-accessible bleachers, a misting station, drinking fountains and trash receptacles. New amenities throughout the adjacent areas of the park include resurfacing select paved areas, adding benches/seating, drinking fountains, perimeter lawn, and planted areas, and refreshing existing bocce courts.
